LEATHER
Top Grain Leather
This is the most expensive type of leather and is the finest, strongest leather. It is taken from the uppermost layer of the leather.
Mid Grain Leather
A treated form of leather which has a smooth surface and a fairly stiff texture.
Supersoft Leather
A very soft and thick leather with a pebbled grain.
Buffed Leather
A soft leather with an abrased fine grain and a slight sheen on the surface.
Split Leather
This is a less expensive type of leather than top grain leather and is taken from an underlying layer of leather.
Bycast Leather
This material has a glossy appearance. A polyurethane film is bonded to a leather split which is popular in modern furniture.
RIG Leather
Is the most economical leather derivative. It is formed using the lower layers of leather. It has a stiff consistency which is suited to flat shaped upholstery.
Imitation Leather
This is an economical alternative to leather. It has the appearance and feel of leather but is a man-made fabric.

WOOD
There are two types of wood used in the construction of FunktionFurniture items.
Solid Beech
Solid Beech wood is used in the construction of our wood chairs and tables. There are four stains available in beech frames – natural, cherry, walnut and wenge.
Oak Veneer
Oak Veneer is available as a tabletop on some of our tables. This comes in two versions, Bleached Oak and Wenge Oak. These table tops are constructed using a real oak veneer which allows grain detail to be shown. The veneer is enhanced using a bleached stain or a wenge stain.

GLASS
There are three options available on glass table tops.
Clear
The glass is transparent.
White
The underside of the glass is coloured white to give a translucent quality to the table top.
Black
The underside of the glass is coloured black to give an opaque quality to the table top.

ALUCOMPACT®
Alucompact® is a laminate that has been layered at a high temperature. Sheets of aluminium are added to stratified resin in the layering phase giving a strong structural stability.
White
White Alucompact® Table Tops : have a white horizontal resin surface. The black coloured edging has visible aluminum layering detail.
Black
Black Alucompact® Table Tops ; have a black horizontal resin surface. The black coloured edging has visible aluminum layering detail.

STEEL FINISHES
All our metal furniture is steel. There are usually two options on the finishes to the steel.
Chrome
Gives the steel a shiny appearance
Painted Satin Finish
Powder-coated silver paint finish giving the steel a duller sheen.
